OBI Bedlam Blood Battle
The winning school in this season’s Bedlam Blood Battle was Oklahoma State University. Some 1,365 Cowboys volunteered to give blood with Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) Nov. 14 – 18 in the friendly competition between the state’s two largest universities. The University of Oklahoma rallied 1,261 on its Norman campus, wanting to give life-saving blood. As the leader of the state’s blood center noted, though, everyone is a winner in this effort.
“The Bedlam Blood Battle is a great opportunity for blood donors to show their school spirit,” said John Armitage, M.D., OBI President and CEO. “It is also a way to show the best in community spirit by saving lives. And that is the real win.” Last week, students, faculty and staff in Stillwater and Norman participated in Oklahoma Blood Institute’s Bedlam Blood Battle, competing to see which school could enlist the most life-saving blood donors. Some 2,135 people gave blood in this five-day Blood Battle. A trophy will be presented to student leaders at OSU on Dec. 3 at the Bedlam football game. The Bedlam Blood Battle highlighted the need for blood donation heading into the holidays, when fewer people typically give. Since as many as three lives can be saved by each blood donor, the Bedlam Blood Battle will make a life-saving difference for some 6,405 people. Blood donors with Oklahoma Blood Institute provide every drop of blood needed by patients in 131 medical facilities statewide. This includes all metro-area hospitals. Oklahoma Blood Institute is the ninth largest, non-profit blood center in America. Oklahoma Blood Institute has partnered with OU and Sooner Sports Properties and OSU and Cowboy Sports Properties as an Associate Sponsor of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Bedlam Series. |
Sharing Our Skills & Services
OSU AdClub has teamed up with the OSU chapter of PRSSA to launch a strategic communication firm run by students. The firm is working with local clients to develop and implement strategic communications campaigns (pro bono). OSU's Dance Marathon and Stillwater's Stilocal campaign are among the clients of the firm. Students in the firm get a chance to give back to the community, while building their portfolios. If you are interested in working for Innovative State, contact Tracie Dickerson or Katy Bruce.
Homecoming Harvest Carnival & Chili Cook-Off
The Harvest Carnival, created just for kids, is put on every year by the OSU student body, including Greek Houses, Residential Halls and Student Organizations. Held in conjunction with the Harvest Carnival is Homecoming’s tastiest tradition, the Chili Cook-off. AdClub will be a part of this fun and exciting community event. Check out this video for a glimpse of the fun from last year's Harvest Carnival and Cook-off.
